The Chinese Ceramic Society
The Chinese Ceramic Society (CCS) is an academic, non-profit-making
corporate and social organization for professionals engaged
in the science and technology of inorganic nonmetallic materials.
As an affiliate to China Association for Science and Technology,
CCS is designed to rally the efforts of professionals, promote
science and technology, raise science awareness among grassroots,
cultivate talents, and adapt science and technology to economic
development.
.HISTORY
Founded in 1945 under its present name, CCS was renamed
to Chinese Silicate Society in 1956, and resumed its original
name in 1991.
.ORGANIZATION
The CCS National Congress, the supreme governing body of
the Chinese Ceramic Society, convenes every four years. The
Board of Directors elected by the National Congress is empowered
to carry out the resolutions of the National Congress and
exercise leadership when the congress is adjourned. Currently,
CCS owns 33,000 individual and 40 group members, 18 sub-committees,
4 working committees and 124 local branches. Under its CCS's
headquarter are five departments.
.TASKS & ACTIVITIES
1.To conduct technical & academic exchange and cooperation
at non-governmental level. 2.To edit and publish professional
books and periodicals; 3.To carry out continuing education
and scientific popularization; 4.To provide decision-making
as well as technical consultations and services; 5.To scout
for talents, safeguard the legitimate rights of the professionals,
and commend and reward those who excel in their work; 6.To
hold exhibition (s) and demonstration(s) at home and abroad.
£To hold more than 20 national academic conferences a year.
£To consecutively sponsor the International Symposium on Cement
and Concrete, the International Conference on High-performance
Ceramics and the International Conference on Refractories
etc. £To consecutively organize the China International Glass
Industrial & Technical exhibition, the China International
Glass & Enamel Industrial & Technical Exhibition and the China
International Powder & Powder Industry Technology Exhibition
etc. £CCS's national periodicals include Journal of the Chinese
Ceramic Society; Bulletin of the Chinese Ceramic Society etc.
The professional and local branches of CCS run their own journals.
.STATE MEMBERSHIP
CCS maintains a close and cooperative relations with counterparts
in a dozen of countries, it is also a member of the following
organizations - International Commission on Glass ( ICG )
- International Ceramic Federation (ICF ) - Unified International
Technical Conference on Refratories (UNITCER) - International
Organization on Crystal Growth (IOCG) *CCS is on the executive
committees of above international committees.
