An Important Announcement
Since the first circular of the 4th International Symposium
on Refractories was announced, we have received suggestions
from several international co-sponsors and international advisors
that the symposium should be postponed to avoid overlapping
with some other refractory societies' meetings in both Europe
and Asia. Having accepted the suggestion, the Organization Committee
of the symposium has rescheduled the date for the 4th International
Symposium on Refractories, as fixed from March 24 to 28, 2003,
instead of Oct. 14 to 18, 2002, as formerly announced in the
first circular.

Venue
As the third largest port in China, Dalian is located on the
southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula in the northeast. Huge tonnages
of refractory materials are exported from Dalian harbor every
year. Dalian is a place where you can find natural scenes of
stunning beauty, amiable climate and attractive beaches. The
worldwide well-known magnesite deposits are only 1-1.5 hours'
drive by freeway from Dalian. A post-symposium tour to visit
them will be organized.
Call for Papers
Authors are requested to submit an abstract of approximately
150 words before June 15, 2002 to the symposium secretariat.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee. Authors
will be notified acceptance of papers with an instruction
for preparing manuscript by Aug. 15, 2002. The complete camera-ready
manuscripts up to 6000 words/paper are requested to be submitted
no later than Nov. 15, 2002.
Language
English is the working language through the symposium

Social Program and Optional Tours
