Fan Shiji ( S. Fan), a professor and supervisor of Doctor
candidate in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy
of Sciences, was Director of Crystal Department in SICCAS
and vice Director of The Committee of Crystal Growth and Materials,
Chinese Society of Ceramics; Councilor of International organization
of Crystal Growth (IOCG); Editors of J. Synthetic Crystals
and J. Inorganic Materials etc also. He was graduated from
Chemistry Department, Northwest University in China and entered
in SICCAS in 1962 for research of crystal growth, characterization
and application. More than one hundred papers have been published
by him and his group in international or domestic journals.
He was awarded National Invention Prizes, Grade A and B;
Prizes for Scientific and Technical Progress in CAS; The WIPO-CPO
Award, Gold Prize etc. ten times and honorable titles such
as "Talent in Shanghai Scientific & Technical Circles
(Reward for Nominees)"; "The Middle-aged Specialist
Making Outstanding Contribution in Chinese Academy of Sciences"(1990);
"The Model of Workers in Shanghai"(1996) and "The
Shanghai Inventor"(1997).
