Liming's Resume
Gao Liming was born in Chongqing in 1941. His highest education
started in 1959 in Beijing Institute of Light Industry and
his advisor professor You Enpu was a famous specialist in
this field in the country. As an Excellent Student he was
kept in the institute after his graduation in 1963 and became
a teacher there. And he also holds undergraduate degree in
ceramic engineering from the institute.
In 1970 the institute moved to Xianyang Shaanxi from Beijing
which was renamed Northwest Institute of Light Industry. He
has been teaching and doing researches on the thermal engineering
of ceramic kilns here. He was promoted to full professor in
1991. He held the post of the Chair of Materials Engineering
Department from 1989 to 1993 and 1996 to 1998.
He is a supervisor of master's degree and cooperative supervisor
of doctoral degree. His 18 graduate students have completed
their studies and held master's and Ph. D. degrees respectively.
He is the vice president of Ceramic Branch of the Chinese
Ceramic Society, the council member of the Chinese Ceramic
Association and the editor on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th session
of the editorial board of Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society
. He is the author of more than 50 professional publications
and has received many awards for his researches in the field.
He was named the country's outstanding specialist in the ceramic
kiln field. He observed "backing effect" and came
up with a group of characteristic indexes of the thermal technology
of the kiln liner. He is the first person who introduced "Computer
Archeology" in the country. With database and multivariate
statistical analysis he also did clustering, classify and
dating for Chinese ancient pottery and porcelain, which made
this research area be in lead in the world. In addition, he
achieved great success in the phase of separation, the crystallization
glaze, the computer simulation of its process, the recipe
design of ceramics, in the calculation of vent-pipe networks
and the developing specialty software.
