 WANG
CHENYU Professor, born in Tongzhou city of Jiangsu Province
on October 10,1933. He graduated in July 1955 from East China
Institute of Chemical Technology. From1955 to 1958 Prof. Wang
worked as an assistant professor at his almamater. In October
of 1958,he became a lecturer at Shenyang Institute of Light
Industry, a position he held until 1971. At that time, he
transferred to the Dalian Institute of Light Industry as a
lecturer. Still employed here, he was promoted to associate
professor and then to his current position of professor, director
of Institute of Glass and Inorganic New Materials. He has
made the creative works on the research of ionic diffusion,
ion-implantation, weathering, decolorizing and surface treatment
of glasses and has published 167 papers in journals or presented
them at international conference on glass, such as "Effect
of Nitrogen Ion-implantation on Silicate Glass" (J. Non-Cryst.
Solids) and "Calculation of Melting Temperatures of Silicate
Glass" (Glass Technology). He is the author of 7 scholarly
works such as "Glass Surface and Surface Treatment",
"Laboratory Glass Composition and Raw Material Processing
" He has taken 12 item significant achievements of research
project, 4 patents and more than ten prizes, such as Science
and Technology Fruit Prize (National Congress of Science and
Technology) and Important Science and Technology Fruit Prize
(Ministry of Light Industry) etc.
Since 1978, he has been a member of Council of the Chinese
Ceramic Society and vice chairman of the Council of the Liaoning
Province Silicate Society. He has been a member of the Technical
Committee (TC-14) of International Commission on Glass, member
and consultant of Society of Glass Technology, Member of Science
and Education Commission (State Administration of Building
Materials Industry). He has been conferred the honorable titles:
The State Expert with Excellent Achievement, the Excellent
Scientist and Technologist of Liaoning Province, Excellent
Teacher of Liaoning Province, the Outstanding Specialist of
Dalian City. He was a Invited Speaker, Session Chairperson,
Member of International Advisory Committee and Chairman of
Program Committee of the International Conference on Glass.
He is postgraduate tutor for master's and doctor's degree.
