Ping Yu received her Ph.D. degree from Sichuan University, China, in 2000. She then joined Sichuan University as a member of the College of Material Science and Engineering and initiated research on inorganic thin films for innovative microelectronic devices, focusing on perovskite oxide films. She has built up a technology capability within Department of Material Science on ferroelectric and piezoelectric thin films that opened the way for several applications comprising ferroelectric thin-film detectors, sensors and capacitors. She also developed lead-free piezoelectric materials and processes. As full professor, she has worked in Sichuan University since 2006.
